The personal collections of 16 Magazine's former editorial directors, Danny Fields and Randi Reisfeld, go on the auction block this Sunday, September 27.

Backstage Auctions, an online boutique auction house who specializes in authentic classic rock memorabilia, is presenting rare and one-of-a-kind rock and pop collections from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Backstage Auctions exclusively represents legendary musicians and entertainment professionals, and works closely with all of their clients, incorporating their personal stories and memories through their online auction events. Their first online auction featured the private collection of legendary producer Eddie Kramer.

The Beatles, the Jackson 5 and the Bay City Rollers

Part of the collection up for auction is a rare and never before published collection of negatives, with full ownership rights, featuring the Beatles taken during the mid-1960s at various press conferences, concerts and in the Bahamas while filming the movie Help!

There are photographs and negatives of the Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson dating back as early as 1969, as well as one of the largest Bay City Rollers collections ever featured in a single auction. The Bay City Rollers collectibles date back to 1969 (when they were known as the Saxons), including photographs, negatives, handwritten letters and lyrics, press material and promotional items.

Musical Acts of Several Decades Featured

Collections of many other artists will be auctioned off as well, including the Doors, the Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, the Hudson Brothers, Herman’s Hermits and Peter Noone, Paul Revere & the Raiders, the Dave Clark 5, the Bobbys: Darin, Vinton, and Vee, the Monkees, Andy Gibb, Leif Garrett, Rick Springfield, K.C. & the Sunshine Band, the Osmonds, and Donny & Marie Osmond.

Collections of Movie and Television Icons Offered

It wasn’t just the musical acts that made the teenage girls swoon as they flipped through the pages of 16 Magazine. Many movie and television celebrities graced the pages as well, making it a well-balanced mix.

Some of the collections to be auctioned off include celebrities such as Matt Dillon, Rob Lowe, Michael J. Fox, John Stamos, Jodi Foster, Patrick Swayze, Tony Danza, Erik Estrada, Kurt Russell, Brooke Shields, Ricky Shroder, Linda Blair, Melissa Gilbert, Freddy Prinze, the Brady Bunch, Happy Days, Scott Baio, Henry Winkler and the cast of Baywatch.

16 Magazine and its Editorial Directors

The first issue of 16 Magazine debuted in May 1957, featuring Elvis on the cover.

Danny Fields was the man behind the camera at 16 Magazine, photographing everyone from the Beatles to the Jackson 5. He also managed such musical acts as the Ramones, Iggy and the Stooges, and Lou Reed, and is a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Nominating Committee. Randi Reisfeld was the Publications Editorial Director at 16 Magazine, and currently writes young adult fiction. Together, Fields and Reisfeld wrote Who’s Your Fave Rave?

Auction Opening and Closing Time

The auction opens on Sunday, September 27 at 3:00 p.m. eastern standard time.

The auction closes on Sunday, October 4 at 3:00 p.m. eastern standard time.

There are 600 auction lots, and unsold auction items may be placed in the online store for direct purchase. While there is no guarantee that any or all unsold items will be made available after the auction ends, items placed for purchase will be adjusted to reflect an appropriate “buy it now” price, meaning the price will be higher than the opening bid price.
